June 5th 2009 at approx. 5:30pm, my hubby came running into the house, threw open the door and looked at me with wide eyes and a smile, saying, "Cin, I think Nicci's water broke!" I looked at him perplexed, stunned even, and said, "Are you serious?" With his nod that's all I needed to know and I leaped into action. I got my towels, the syringe, blankets, dull scissors, and whatever else I needed to ensure that my girl got through this alright. Soon as I got to her, she was shivering like crazy and I knew right then it was happening.

Not twenty minutes later the first pup was visible and it was breech! Legs first! I didn't even hesitate to help my girl with it, and soon it was plopped out, and a new life was born as I helped it take it's first breath. Five hours later, four more puppies breeched, but in the end we were left with seven puppies that were squirming wriggling and whining for their new mother. Four males and three females, two black and white, and the rest looking like their momma with charcoal grey coats. Not a single one lost and all of them are healthy!
